Category: Planning Application Success
We're delighted to share that planning permission has now been approved for the refurbishment and extension of a historic Manx farmhouse and registered building.
The existing property included a number of later additions which had gradually altered the building's historic character. Our proposals focused on carefully restoring and refurbishing the original house while replacing less sympathetic extensions with a new design that respects the site's heritage.

As part of the design process, we worked closely with Planning and Registered Building officers through pre-application discussions. Early concepts were reviewed and refined, with several design iterations undertaken before the final scheme was submitted. This collaborative process helped shape a proposal that celebrates the historic building while carefully integrating contemporary accommodation.
The approved scheme includes repairs to the historic fabric, conservation-style windows, the removal of a later addition that detracted from the original form of the house, and a new extension inspired by the character of traditional Manx stone barns.
The planning authority concluded that the proposals would preserve and enhance the special interest of the registered building and the surrounding conservation area, recognising the positive heritage benefits delivered by the project.

Securing approval is an important milestone, and we're excited to see this carefully considered scheme move forward.
